Thinking of standing for election? Here's a brief overview of the positions available and what each involves. This information is designed to help local tenants and residents by providing guidance to anyone interested in becoming more involved the SWGTRA
What is a TRA?
A TRA (Tenants and Residents Association) is a group of local residents who come together to represent their community, raise concerns and work towards improving the area where they live.
A TRA provides a collective voice for residents, helping them engage with landlords, housing associations, local councils and other organisations.
Committee Election – Roles & Responsibilities
Chairperson
The Leader & Community Representative
Leads meetings, ensures everyone has a voice, represents tenants and residents' interests and works with the committee to achieve the association's goals.
Vice Chair
The Deputy Leader
Supports the Chairperson, steps in when they're unavailable and helps coordinate activities and ensure decisions are followed through.
Secretary
The Organiser & Record Keeper
Arranges meetings, prepares agendas, takes minutes, manages correspondence and keeps the association's records organised
Assistant Secretary assists the Secretary and steps in when the Secretary is unavailable.
Treasurer
The Financial Guardian
Manages the association's finances, keeps accurate records of income and expenditure, provides financial updates and ensures funds are used responsibly.
